About SexBizLaw.com:

SexBizLaw.com is an outgrowth of my work on Obscene Profits: The Entrepreneurs of Pornography in the Cyber Age (Routledge 2000). I first had the idea for "Obscene Profits" during the debate over the Communications Decency Act in 1995 and 1996, and put together a book proposal to explore how the pornography industry had been so successful in understanding and implementing a new technology. During the course of my research, I compiled a database of several thousand laws, regulations, news stories, press releases, and interviews relating to the pornography industry in general and online pornography in particular. My research has continued over the past 8 years, and my database now contains nearly 10,000 articles.

In conversations with industry business owners and legal professionals, it became clear that there is no comprehensive resource of legal information and news about pornography and obscenity in the United States. SexBizLaw.com is designed to address that need. The site offers news, legislative updates, statutes, and court pleadings and decisions relating to pornography and obscenity.

SexBizLaw.com now supplements and is affiliated with Tech Law Seminars, which provides full-day seminars for adult entertainment business owners and attorneys. The project, jointly developed and operated by Frederick Lane and Greg Piccionelli, has been accredited in Texas and California.

Currently, the primary emphasis of SexBizLaw.com and Tech Law Seminars is on Internet-related issues, but over time, the scope of both businesses will expand to address the legal and political issues faced throughout the adult entertainment industry.
